Scenic Cruises - Doubtful Sound

- While Milford Sound is world famous for its towering peaks, plunging waterfalls, and hanging glaciers, Doubtful Sound is becoming revered by travelers for its long winding waterways, spectacular mountain scenery, and playful marine life. The second largest of the fiords in Fiordland National Park, Doubtful Sound provides an opportunity for travelers to venture into one of the most remote destinations in New Zealand.
A trip to Doubtful Sound is a full day adventure. The early morning cruise across Lake Manapouri is considered by some as the highlight of the day. The Lake is famous for its many islands, and magnificent Rainbows and imposing mountain scenery. This is followed by an exhilarating drive over Wilmot Pass with breathtaking views of Doubtful Sound and surrounding peaks, before descending down to the calm waters of Deep Cove.
Travelers have a choice of cruise boat catering for all tastes and requirements. All cruises cover similar paths through the fiord, with the larger boats providing buffet lunches and commentary in multiple languages, and the smaller boats a more personal experience.
During the summer months Overnight cruises are available for those wishing to experience a Fiordland sunset on the water. All meals are included, and accommodation varies from shared rooms to ensuited doubles and twins.
